74. Taken (2008)

Leonard Maltin's Rating :
Should be :

IMDB Rating : 7.9

Rotten Tomatoes Rating : 83% (58% by critics)

Rotten Tomatoes Synopsis : "Taken is undeniably fun with slick action, but is largely a brainless exercise."

In his review Leonard says: "Slick, visceral, and never dull, this action yarn starts well but becomes utterly preposterous."

I agree that this is a mindless piece of fluff, but it is still very well done. When semi-retired CIA agent Bryan Mills' (Liam Neeson) daughter gets kidnapped we know that he is going to give the bad guys a run for their money.

Appealing to an audience the same way the Rambo movies did, it's easy to turn off the logic machine and just watch the hunt. There are more holes in the plot than there are in all the people Mills shot, but it is an action story, and the action goes on non-stop and really doesn't give you a chance to analyze what is going on.

Not a great movie and probably not even good on a second viewing, but this is a movie that would be enjoyable when you are in the mood for a fast action flic that you don't have to think about too much. I think we are all in that kind of a mood once in a while.
